Closing Beautiful Chaos Photography

To all my amazing and valued clients.

This post is one of the hardest I have yet to write, and I am going to get a little real and raw here.

I started this adventure 7 years ago with a passion for capturing those amazing beautiful moments of my clients. As with all business start ups there is a huge over head costs, a massive learning curve and most businesses start with a financial deficit.

2020 was supposed to be the first year I would finally pay myself for my hard labour. All the courses, mentorships, experience building was finally going to pay off. I would be able to pay off all my start up costs . And the start of the year was really taking off to a good start with lots of bookings and wonderful clients. Then covid hit, and my business sunk to the ground.

In 2021, people started wanting to document their families moments within the confines and restrictions of Covid. But…. then my business social media accounts were hacked and I lost over 2000 followers. At which point I decided it was time to rebrand since I already had to once again start all over.

Finally at the end of 2022/beginning of 2023 things looked up, I was getting constant bookings and I finally paid myself for the first time.

Then spring 2023 we received our posting message to Wainwright.

This posting guys, has been really hard but I have started from the ground up multiple times before (I had a dog training business before that I had rebuilt through several postings). I could do it again.

I seriously over estimated the toll it was going to take on me to do this once again, and for a posting that won’t last. We will be here for just enough time to get established to move again.

I had posted my mini package at pricing I haven’t done in years, in hopes to draw in new clients. And it worked and I have met some amazing families. But once again I am working at a deficit.

With the competition of AI technology, phone upgrades, and a saturated market with photographers, it is really hard to compete. Not to mention the cost of everything rising people just can’t afford photography at the cost I would need to charge to make a living.

I know my worth, I am proud of the work that I do. But I just can’t maintain a business in a deficit once again. I often stay up until midnight working on galleries and then when I am not editing, I am working evenings and weekends capturing other families while missing out on my own family time.

So with great sadness I am discontinuing Beautiful Chaos Photography indefinitely (you never know, some day I might be back). I will of course honour any sessions currently booked.  And I am sure you will still see my photography floating around as I work on personal projects with my kids. Thank you everyone for your support, it has meant the world to me.

Please also note I will continue ahead with my holiday session sale for YEG, but beyond that that will be it, no more photography trips to Edmonton.
